Working in an industry like NALCO (National Aluminium Company Limited) is not merely a profession—it’s a disciplined way of life that shapes both one’s intellect and integrity. As a Senior Manager (Chemical) at NALCO, my world revolves around processes, parameters, and performance. Every action demands accuracy; every decision, clarity. And somewhere between the steady hum of machines and the rhythm of refinery operations, I discovered a profound connection between engineering and writing—a bond built on clarity and precision.
In the industry, a single calculation error can lead to losses, but in writing, an unclear thought can lead to misunderstanding. Over the years, I realized that the same principles that define a successful operation—accuracy, discipline, and purpose—also define meaningful writing. Technical reports taught me to value structure; daily communication trained me to simplify complex ideas. Gradually, my pen began to adopt the same sense of discipline that governed my work.

When I write, I don’t just use words—I measure them, refine them, and align them the way I align chemical parameters. I believe that every sentence should flow like a well-designed process: efficient, balanced, and purposeful. This realization transformed not only my professional communication but also my creative expression.
From the mechanical precision of chemical equations to the emotional precision of poetry, my journey has been about finding clarity in chaos and meaning in method. My workplace gave me logic; my pen gave me life. And together, they made me understand that writing, like engineering, is about transforming raw material—thoughts—into something of value.
The refinery shaped my reasoning, but poetry refined my soul. And out of this fusion were born my books, Monalisa and Senorita, and the novel She Is Not My Ex—each a reflection of the same precision that the industry instilled in me, yet carrying the softness of human emotion.
My recent Odia creation, Hirakhand Express: Seat No. A13, is another heartfelt journey—an emotional travel through love, reflection, and human connection, set against the backdrop of a moving train. Through its poetic narration and life-like characters, it captures how moments in motion often reveal the stillness within us.
And now, as I prepare for the release of my upcoming novel, Me, I find myself returning once again to that same lesson NALCO quietly taught me over the years—
that clarity is strength, precision is beauty, and writing, like life, becomes art when guided by purpose.
