A Blank Mind Is the Beginning of a New Story

How often do you take a break from work? How often do you postpone whatever assigned to you? Even if you do, do you forget about it? Does it not keep your mind working on it consciously or unconsciously? I guess it does and it is not long that you get back on it.

The break could be for a few minutes, hours, days or weeks. You do get back as these are jobs assign to you. What about those who pen down what they think, what they feel and what they want to share. The pen has seen its transformation, from the feathers that dipped in dyes to write the lengthiest of stories to share.

To the pen that spoke of style and a statement that it made. To the one that is digital and adapted to the new world that I can call. Writing has continued, in different styles and genre. This is for some a profession, for some an escape, for some detox and for some a means to express what they could never say. They have their own ways and duration to continue penning down everything that comes to their mind. What happens when one day , the mind just stops, just blank, just confused. There is so much going on but the mind just does not urge you to hold the pen.

The Writers Block as you can call it. A phase when the writer feels trapped, closed with no words helping him to escape. It is not that he or she stops writing. It is not that they have been prohibited or blocked from writing. It is the pause that comes into their lives . A pause that stays with them for a duration that differs person to person. When you find nothing new or valuable or exciting, interesting to write on. This happens to most writers and it does take time.

It happens to many people when you are presenting something, you are on stage or somewhere , you just blank out. A detour your mind takes, pulling you away from the present and leaving you quiet.

What do we do when we go through this phrase called Writer’s Block? It is alright if you are in this phase for awhile. Maybe it’s your mind that wants you to stay away, freshen up, enjoy some activities that you have been depriving your body of. Maybe hobbies other than writing that you enjoyed but never get time enough to do.

Take this break, just do things that you enjoy, maybe go out, enjoy time with family or friends, catch up with old hobbies like music, cooking, gardening, travelling and so on. While taking this detour you might come across certain things, incidents, lines you read that might be your next topic for writing.

You can just have a little notebook where you can write down these little attractions, distractions, or people , events that you found strange, amusing, different. When you get back to writing you could glance over them and get a new topic to write on .
We all do have conversations and sometimes a person might use a phrase or line that might sound philosophical or might touch your heart. Just note it down in your mobile. This could be the next thing on your page with your perspective on it.
